Ms. Schnapp has been involved in the field of mental health and advocacy for the last 20 years as a Professional Counselor, Certified Social Worker, Care Manager, and Advocate. Upon graduating from Cedar Crest College, Heidi began her professional career coordinating programs to benefit frail and vulnerable older adults, juvenile delinquents in the county system, and families in crisis at the Essex County Division of Citizen Services.
Returning to graduate school in the early 90's, Heidi earned her Masters of Arts degree in Counseling and worked as a Senior Staff Therapist at the Irvington Counseling Center where she had a general practice treating children, adults, and elderly with mental illness both individually and in groups. She served as the agency delegate by participating in "grand rounds" at Newark Beth Israel Hospital. After taking a break from paid counseling jobs to raise her family, Heidi continued to volunteer her time with several local organizations and committees and as a professional consultant. Upon returning to work several years later, she again focused on serving the vulnerable and frail elderly at the Community Health Law Project and then moved with the program to Jewish Family Services of MetroWest (JFS). While at JFS, Heidi eventually became the Coordinator of Volunteer Services for the organization.
As an Eldercare Advocate and Co-Owner of Life Management Resources Heidi identifies, advocates, and assists individuals and families as they sort through the emotional, social, financial, and physical mazes of caregiving.
